We supported the book launch of Real Talk on 4 November 2021 with mini bullet vibes to add to their goodie bags.
The book launch was an invitation only event to celebrate the Real Talk book, and a spokesperson said the mini vibes went down a treat and ‘sparked excitement’ on the night.
"We know that the Real Talk kaupapa and korero is making a positive impact in Aotearoa, and can contribute to improving rangatahi (young people) wellbeing and reduce the likelihood of suicide for rangatahi," they said.
New Zealand has some of the highest youth suicide rates in the developed world. 654 people died by suicide in New Zealand in 2020. Of this, 174 were Maori suicides and a total of 78 deaths were made up made up of rangatahi aged between 10-25 years old. 51% of Maori males are under 24 years old. 47% of Maori females are under 24 years old.
“The Real Talk book was designed as a tool to help you to know that you are not alone, you are here for a reason and you are worthy of a beautiful life ahead. If our experiences and our words can help guide you on your journey through life, we are already winning. If we can change or save one life, then it is all worth it, we have achieved what we set out to do!”
